We have been licensed for a month which is crazy! We have learned so much about this truly broken system that the children are exposed to due to no fault of their own. For the most part, we felt like we knew what we were getting ourselves into... but as they say, you truly don't know what you will experience until you walk in it. That surely has been the case for us! What we have learned/experienced so far: 1. Placements happen at lightning speed: We currently have an almost 4 week old baby boy in our house. He is the sweetest little boy and loves to cuddle. I received a phone call about him when he was 39 hours old, found out he was coming 30 minutes later and he was at our house an hour later. We were licensed just a few days prior. My type A personality was no way prepared or ready to welcome this little bundle of love into our house but we made it work and got all the necessities as quickly as we could. 2.
