57 Returns

Sports was my life growing up and I wouldn't change that for anything. I loved anything and everything about competition. I think what I loved most about it was traveling around to different national volleyball tournaments across the US to play and the lasting friendships I made from those teams. It was during my middle school years that the number 57 emerge as my number. I was selected to play on Club Texas which was one of the top leagues in Houston. I was estatic because not only did I surpass my friends in middle school who were on the A and B teams (I was on the C team) but I finally realized that I had potential to be not only a decent player but a good one. I loved Coach Everett - he believed in me and instilled fundamentals that would carry me through high school. Everett and Christina were by far my favorite coaches. An article written on our team - I am the girl in the picture attacking A couple of weeks ago I was asked to be a part of the basketball team at Top...

PRK Surgery

Last Wednesday, Landon has eye surgery that he has anxiously waited for the last several months. He has been very excited about this surgery because he will no longer have to wear contacts or glasses. In the next month, his vision will improve dramatically and should be 20/20. Although he was not in severe pain the last couple of days, he definitely was uncomfortable. I had the pleasure of being nurse and supplying his eyes with drops and getting bags of ice prepared. His eyes watered constantly and he basically kept them closed for several days. He listened to a lot of my TV programs and slept a lot! He also desperately needed to shower but was not suppose to get his face wet so he finally took at bath! Ice packs and sunglasses is how Land spend most of his days Typical Hook 'Em Horns Right now his vision is still blury and at times it is hard to focus on items. He had an appointment today and was officially cleared to drive. I asked him if he was going to be ...

Happy FAT Tuesday!!!

When I got home from work, I  found a surprise sitting on the kitchen counter. In my last post, I commented how much I missed everything in Texas! I think for the first time, I realized how much I miss Texas and being there with all my friends and family. I realized how much I missed all the fun things that are great about Texas. Mardi Gras is one of those celebrations. Because my sweet mother-in-law saw my post, she felt so bad that I was missing my hubby and these events that I have grown to love for so long. She decided to send up some chocolate covered strawberries from Edible Arrangements so that we could have our own celebration of Mardi Gras. YEAH!!!!! Well today is Fat Tuesday and tomorrow is Ash Wednesday which symbolizes the beginning of lent. Even though I am not neccessarily keen on giving up something for lent, I still recognize the celebration of Jesus and the beginning of his journey to the Cross! Thank you so much Donetta for the delicious treats - as you c...

Texas on my Mind

For the last 10 days, Landon has been in San Antonio, Texas for deployment training - no this does not mean he is going to be deployed anytime soon. Even though we are hopeful that Land will not have to go overseas, we know that it is still a possibility. With Mardi Gras, the Houston or San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo currently going on right now and Land being in TX, I am missing my roots. Even though he is not experiencing these events, Land is getting to set foot on Texas soil and I am jealous. No one here understands my longing to see bull riding and mutton busting. Or the necessary walk through the livestock that FFA students raise all year long to get scholarships for college. Or the main event, some of my most favorite country stars preform their old hits and new singles. I think what I love most is the food. All the terrible goodness that you can't get but once a year and it is at the rodeo. I love the rodeo!! Even less people understand Mardi Gras or at least th...
