Lee Roy "Bampi" Brehmer

In an earlier post, I mentioned that Landon is currently in Texas to be with his family this weekend for the services of his grandfather, Bampi. Although, I did not have the opportunity to know him my whole life, I can tell you that he made an impression on my life in the few years that I have known him. I will begin by telling you a story that occurred when Land and I went to see him in Kerrville over Christmas. He was currently staying in a nursing home after his recent visit to the hospital. When we made the trip to Kerrville, I wasn't expecting him to remember me but sure enough as soon as I walked in he perked up and said hello. We had a great visit and of course he wanted to know all about what was going on with Landon in the military. While we were talking, I noticed that Bampi kept staring at my face. I really didn't think much about it and just smiled at him. The next thing that happened will stay with me for the rest of my life and makes me smile when I think abo...

Another Snow Day!!!

Well friends - the snow is here again! It just started coming down a couple hours ago and is sticking to the ground. I don't know what it is but everytime there is a chance of snow, I don't believe it. Maybe because in Texas, it hardly ever snows and when it does it usually never sticks around for very long. The crummy thing about this snow day is that Land is in Texas. So I guess Tank is going to be my snuggle buddy for the next day or so. He is due to come home tomorrow. Hopefully he will still be able to make it and without much delay. I was suppose to work today but they sent us home and we may have to make this day up again. I don't know how many more Saturday Work Days I can handle. I haven't really posted on my job and plan to post soon about my life as a Algebra I teacher. Let me tell you - it has been crazy!

Baby Its Cold Outside

Our two weekend has now turned into a four day weekend and for me a five day weekend - I just got word that school is canceled for me tomorrow as well. Good news that the finals have been rescheduled but we have to make up these days and we are not sure when. We are hovering around freezing all day and will be in the 20s tonight. Everything is still covered in white yet the snow is not as fluffy as it was yesterday. Our little town of Hampstead, NC got 8 inches of snow by yesterday afternoon. The interesting thing is that the snow did not start falling until 8:30 when Land left for work. When we are above freezing, you see the icicles start the form as the refreeze. We have some huge ones forming on our roof and on the bird feeder outside. Notice how much snow is still on our roof The weatherman says that any snow that melts today will refreeze this afternoon and into the night only making the roads wrose than they already are. This process is going to take place for the next...

Snow Day!!!

Well it is official folks - no school tomorrow either! Landon is still on a 2 hour delay but there is no way I am letting him drive all the way to work in the mess only to be told that the hospital and clinic are closed. It took him 3 hours to get home! Once he got home, here is what we did... Tank loves the snow!!! The snow is past his legs... he loves to bury his nose in it! Besides the water, snow is his new favorite thing. We went sleding down the hills on the golf course! Snow ball fights - Land got one right in the face :) In front of our house - my ugs are covered in snow! We went on a walk - the ponds are freezing and Tank tried to get in, hence the leash! Digging to China - he is whining because he wants to go outside Our last adventure was the Surf Snowman PS - One of my students now knows that we live on his street. He was driving his four wheeler down the street and pulled over to say hi. I hope ...

Snickers and Tank

Landon and I have loved being able to get back to Texas over Thanksgiving and Christmas. We have gotten to see so many people in our family and some of our friends. It has been great!!! Over Thanksgiving, Land and I got to meet the new addition to the Tyler family, Snickers. After they generously took care of Tank this summer, Paul was convinced he needed a new dog in the family and Snickers was it. She sure is cute but she tends to have some bad habbits. In retaliation for Paul teaching Tank to speak when he sees food (which has carried over to our home in NC), I decided to teach Snickers to jump on the couch and into your lap. Actually she is so snuggly and you want to cuddle up next to her - but her parents aren't so thrilled with her new trick. Hook 'Em Horns Before the A&M - Texas Game! Whoop!!! Tank couldn't make it home for Thanksgiving this year but I was so excited that he was able to meet his aunt over the Christmas break. Tan...

When I woke up this morning...

North Carolina has officially gone up a few points in my book since I woke up today. Yesterday I received news from my district that they were canceling school because of the winter storm that was approaching in the morning. Most people would be estatic but I was not because that gives me one less day to get my kids ready for finals that begin on Thursday. To make a long story short, my kids are taking the equivalent of the TAKS test this week and are no where near ready. But anyway that is out of my control and I can actually say that I am excited I am home right now. Anyway, if you know me, you would know that I absolutely hate being cold and don't like cold weather. Right after Thanksgiving, the weather started changing and it started getting cold. Our little town of Hampstead had a white Christmas this year. The lakes and ponds all around the golf course are frozen over. The lows are in the teens and we rarely get into the 40s anymore. The last few days, we have barely gott...
